Useless word of the day.

Whilst I was happily sojourning in the Czech Republic I was taught a new game: to ask someone to name a uselsess word and have them give you one in
return. It should be obscure, perfereably highly liteary, and have another common word that is just as good that could be used in it's stead. My choice is the
word "owerance" : I won't tell you what it means, but I will quote Tony Harrison.

I look on 'em as kindred, like
but my mates all say theyr'e not
and men must have t' owerance
or t' world will go to rot.

Andrew Ladds´s curry survival night.

I can´t believe I ate some of Andy´s curry last night. It´s lethal, strong enough to set off the early warning radars on Menwith Hill: it sits on your plate, a brooding, burning red, something like chunk ripped from pryroclastic floor of hell. To place your bare foot upon it would be a feat even for an accomplished firewalker. As for eating it...

Ok, so I exaggerate. At least those vicious red peppers were pickled, not fresh. I wonder that Laddsy´s stomach has any lining at all : it must be hideously scarred.

Another Bizzare Blues Dialogue

Anything of note happened while am away?

Not really -- Jez got himself arrested on Wednesday.

Another tedious non - event :-)

The circumstances were highly amusing tho'

So, they will be taken into consideration if the judge needs a laugh?

I think he's escaping with a caution if he attends some rehab. course.

So it wasn't kerb - crawling?

No (for a change). Allegedly, he and Clare had a row and he left hers - the cat followed him and got knocked down by a car. He put his bag down on the pavement and took the cat back to Clare, who was hysterical by now. Plod, alerted by neighbours reporting bit of a domestic, picked up his bag and looked inside. Several bags of coke. They busted him.

Magnificent. Did he see the funny side?

Apparently, the cats still at the vets - broken leg, dislocated shoulder - about 400 quid's worth.

Return to the Blooze

And so I return from the UK from the Czech Republic. Everyone in the UK suddenly seems to be a loud, overpaid, moronic poser compared with the Czechs. Well, not everybody. My new colleagues are pretty cool, and some of the Blues people are as fun as they ever were. Then I learn about things like this. It's embarrasing to be a citizen of a country that does this to perfectly good Europeans. I hope the Conservative Party dies horribly. Something which it seems to be in the process of doing, much to my satisfaction!

Defecting to Prague

It's been a long time since I updated this Blog, for my life has taken an unexpectedly weird turn. For no reason other than the hell of it and a shrewd suspicion that this woman was interesting, I went to Prague to meet a friend from ICQ. Gasps of horror from assembled audience, "but she might be a mad axe murderer if you met her on the net.". Yawn. So I took a risk, so I met a beautiful, passionate, literary Czech woman and discovered a gentle country full of people who know how to enjoy life. Such a contrast to the miserable, fear-filled, and stressful shithole the UK has become.

I can feel an emigration coming on.

The Journal

A miscellany of topics that intersest me: deaf culture, game design, politics as soap opera, the cyborg condition and the experience of learning to hear again. Other topics presented are speculative fiction and imaginary cities. There are appearences of snippets of work in progress, public rants, pointless posts and Mish the Mouse.

The Writer

A lower middle class cyborg living an innocous life in a suburban village near Newcastle On Tyne, in the United Kingdom. Mostly autobiographical and creative notes posts and musings on the topic du jour.
